There is an option where they come gradually as you get more and more S soldiers, kinda in the same way than the game did.

It allows for S+ and S++ soldiers to populate the free roam instead of being confined to the FOB. The descriptions for every camo reflects the changes too, see screenshot). It also makes some fatigues have a mix of different types instead of just one (for ex: sand/rocks instead of just sand) in order to expand the variety since only Animal and the Jumpsuit camo had it. It makes your camo to be more consistent in accordance to the texture you stand on so that the camo you think would visually be the most logical would actually work. The best thing is that they all have their own title and description, which is a far cry above the generic titles that MGS5 uses (like 'Extract The Prisoner 5'). Essentially it works like Subsistence mode in the main game, but enemies will also drop items (sometimes as little as a single grenade), giving them game a light Snake Eater feel and bringing out that creativity born of necessity.Īpparently they have found a way to create new side-ops recently, so Morbid created 50 new side-ops.

I haven't personally played with it (as I'm using the PS4 version at the moment), but it's honestly fun to watch other people play through the game with it.įor anyone who wants to try something a little different for MGSVTPP, I'd recommend trying out the this mod.

So the total OSP mod reintroduces that kind of tension and creativity. When you can just call down whatever you want whenever you want is can make the game into a very two dimensional experience (not helped by the repetitive simplistic mission design in side ops, and the fulton mechanic in general that just lets you delete enemies and vehicles with no issues).

The biggest problem with MGSV beyond being unfinished is that imo experimentation out of necessity is what makes MG shine. It's way more atmospheric in FP and cohesive than it is in TP, actually. So you'd either have to use another weapon, call in supply drop or use other ways such as CQC or do some good old OSP. Now the suppressor wears down more quickly and your ammo count is lower. This one makes it so that you don't have enough supplies to clear a base with only one tranquilizer gun. There are many more things to toggle but I thought these were the most interesting for now.

So I turned myself to mods to see if I could spice up the experience in a way that is engrossing rather than disruptive. Its solid gameplay makes it a joy to play, but its loop can be monotone after more than a hundred hours spent on the game. I've been meaning to get back to Metal Gear Solid 5.
